Born of Fire: The Life and Pottery of Margaret Tafoya
Through January 4, 2009.
Considered a master of her art, Margaret Tafoya was the last of the matriarchs of the early 20th century pueblo potters. This exhibition is her first on the east coast.

 

Exploring the Arctic Seafloor: Photographs by Chris Linder
Through January 25, 2009.
Embark on an expedition to the bottom of an ice-covered ocean, and give you a first-ever look at mysterious undersea mountains near the North Pole.

 

Insects, Ink & Inklings: Illustrations by Jane Hyland
Through 2008.
Enjoy a selection of works by Carnegie Museum of Natural History scientific illustrator Jane Hyland.

 

Time Machines: Watches from the H.J. Heinz Collection
Through 2008.
The collection of timepieces donated to Carnegie Museum of Natural History by ketchup-and-pickle magnate H.J. Heinz is considered one of the finest collections of its type in America.


Arresting Arrangements
Through 2008.
This exhibit features 20 large-scale photos by New York photographer Craig Cutler. Craig documented the remounting of Carnegie Museum of Natural History dinosaurs last year at Phil Fraley Productions.
  Turkey Trot
Friday, November 28.
Come for a trail hike to burn off those excess calories and make room for leftovers! There will be activities for kids, an exploration of the natural and American cultural history of the wild turkey, and even some real turkeys to see up-close and personal!

Saturday, December 13.
The Boy from Abydos. Join Dr. Sandra Olsen as she takes you on a journey of discovery. A child's mummy, dating to between 304–250 BC, underwent modern imaging techniques to reveal secrets of the child's life and death. Learn just what these scans reveal!

 

Janet Browne: Charles Darwin 200th Birthday Lecture
Friday, February 9.
In Collaboration with the Drue Heinz Lecture Series. Janet Browne's lecture honors the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species. Browne spent 17 years editing Darwin's correspondence, and her work integrates Darwin’s science with his life and times.
